Women's Writing Group.
Join me every other week for an hour of writing from 2-3pm EST on Sundays.
Here's how it works: a group of women will come together on Zoom (a super easy to use video meeting platform) to write together. First, we do a quick check-in, then a 5-minute timed writing prompt to get the juices flowing. After that, we work on a writing piece of our choice for the remaining time, (40-45 min) writing simultaneously, in silence - supporting one another with our presence. There will be some time for sharing and reflection at the end.
The goal is to create a safe space for therapeutic expressive writing as well as accountability in our writing. Expressive writing has been shown to improve mood, reduce stress and even increase resilience (good link on this). Personally, I have seen the power of writing about my life (in private and in public), sharing stories that I once felt were shameful or taboo, and generally, getting perspective through the writing process.
You do not have to consider yourself a writer to join. You just have to be willing to keep your pen moving and promise to keep anything shared within the group confidential.
