When I Have Gumption
Several days before the 2015 Omega Women & Power Retreat, Carla Goldstein found my performance poem, "When I Have Gumption" on Youtube. Feeling that it would be just the thing to inspire and add some artistic presence to the final day of speeches at the conference, she got the approval and invited me up to Rhinebeck, New York to perform.
The next thing I knew I was sitting at a fancy dinner table with Elizabeth Gilbert, being invited into a world all about #DoingPowerDifferently, which is a call for women to change the leadership model from power-over others to power-with. I am so glad that this video of the performance was captured. It was one of the best days of my life.
This video of "When I Have Gumption" and particularly the original (below) have been shared by many women - from mothers to daughters, friends to friends, daughters to mothers, and every combination of female relationship. I would love if you continued to share this poem that was such a gift to me. (It came to me when I was a singer/songwriter who couldn't sing because of vocal pain - another story for another time!)

I was also invited to perform "When I Have Gumption" at the Feminist.com 20th Anniversary Conference in 2015.
